About

Welcome to Memento Mori Bible.

This blog was originally called "Honest Open Bible" and was created in 2018 as a way for me to write responses to some of the anti-Christian bigotry that I have seen on various websites and also comment on other misconceptions about Christianity that are rampant in society.

I feel that I am qualified to comment on Christianity because I'm a Christian and have read the bible and I am also a qualified archaeologist. I believe that these two factors qualify me to speak on the subject because I know the source material and I can put it into it's proper historical and social context, which is something that I personally think is often missing in free online content. I also believe that since I don't specifically specialise in Bible Archaeology, theology or any of the other fields of study surrounding Christianity, I still have the layperson flex that seems to be so appealing to the masses, since anti-intellectualism is at the root of most of the bigotry I've come across.

Usually I would simply respond directly to the content that I find objectionable but as is noted in some of my posts, the people who write up hate filled content admit that they either delete any response that contradicts them (and relish doing this) or they do not have comments enabled so that no objection is possible. To me this suggests that the people know that what they are saying is misleading and they are purposely saying it anyway. This doesn't imply a honest motive to me.

I changed the name of the blog to Memento Mori in 2021 when I decided to take this blog in a new direction. Instead of merely reactionary I want to discuss things that I find interesting about Judeo-Christian beliefs and their impact on society over time.

I hope that I can create interesting content which will help open minded people to have a better understanding of how normal Christians, like me, think and what we base our faith and hope upon.
